The real name is Kubota Toshihiko ( 久保 田 俊彦 ).
Biography
Born December 16, 1876 in the city of Suva, Nagano Prefecture [2] .
He began to write poetry at school age, the first publications were in the newspaper “ Japan " [2] .
He studied at the Nagano General Normal School ( 長野 尋常 師範学校 ). Having received education, he worked first as a teacher, and then as a school principal [1] .
In 1900 he joined the Negishi Tank Poet Society, which was led by Masaoka Shiki . Formally, Shimagi Akahiko was considered there a student of Ito Satio ; after the death of the latter, he headed in 1914 a group of poets who were united by the Araragi magazine created by Ito Satio [1] , and also acted as editor of Araragi [2] .
In creativity, he advocated realism , believed that the form of the poem should be clear and simple, and the image contained in the text, at the same time, emotionally meaningful [1] .
In 1913 he published the first poetry collection "Potato Flowers" ( 馬鈴薯 の 花 ), co-authored with Nakamura Kenkiti [2] . During his life he wrote a large number of poems, manifestos, essays, essays, articles of literary and critical content [1] .
He died of a stomach ulcer [3] on March 27, 1926 in the town of Shimosuva, Nagano Prefecture.
