Kilchoman ( English Kilchoman ) - a distillery on the island of Islay in the west of Scotland , producing the same name malt whiskey .

Kilhoman Distillery was opened in 2005 and has the status of the youngest distillery on the island, opened for the first time in 124 years.

The founder of the distillery is Anthony Wills.

The production is located on the western side of the island, near the small town of Kilhoman and is Scotland's most western distillery.

The first barrel was flooded on December 14, 2005.

For the production of whiskey, malt is used from the local Rockside farm.

Kilhoman is one of six Scottish distilleries using the traditional "floor" method of malting barley .

History

Currently, the distillery produces the following regular releases :

  • Loch Gorm (46% ABV) - regular bottling with aging in sherry barrels;
  • Machir Bay (46% ABV) - regular bottling with aging in bourbon barrels;
  • Sanaig (46% ABV) - regular bottling with aging in sherry barrels.

Other releases:

  • 100% Islay (50% ABV) - issued periodically. All whiskey ingredients are taken from the island;
  • Madeira Cask Matured (50% ABV) - 2015 release. Extract in barrels from Madeira ;
  • Port Cask (55% ABV) - 2014 release. Excerpt in barrels from port ;
  • Kilchoman Club 2014 (58.4% ABV) 4 years of aging;
  • Kilchoman Coull Point (46% ABV) 4 years exposure;
  • Kilchoman Inaugural 2009 (46% ABV) 3 years of exposure;
  • Kilchoman Autumn 2009 (46% ABV) 3 years of aging;
  • Kilchoman Winter 2010 (46% ABV) 3 years of exposure;
  • Kilchoman Summer 2010 (46% ABV) 3 years of aging;
  • Kilchoman Feis Ile 2013 (46% ABV) 5 years of aging. Vintage 2008 .
  • Kilchoman Sherry Cask (46% ABV) 5 years of aging;
  • Kilchoman Vintage 2006, 2007, 2008

Kilhoman whiskey is always bottled with a natural color and without cold filtration .
