R-Studio is a group of full-featured data recovery utilities, which includes both versions for Windows OS and applications running under Mac OS and Linux OS . Data can be recovered from hard disks (HDD), solid state devices ( SSD ), flash memory and similar external and internal data storage devices. Designed for data recovery professionals, but can also be used by IT professionals and ordinary users to independently recover lost files. Before recovery, selected files can be viewed in the built-in viewer. For non-professional users on the R-Studio core, the R-Undelete software product [7] has been developed and is offered. It works only in the Windows OS environment with a simplified interface and disabled functions for recovering from disk arrays, support for network recovery and file modification with the Hexedit editor.
A free utility R-Undelete Home is also offered for home users. It recovers files from the FAT / exFAT file system, which is most used in USB flash memory and SD cards of digital and video cameras.

Principles of Operation
Uses two data recovery methods:
- Analysis of data on the disk in order to find information about the current and former file systems on the disk and restore files based on it. If successful, it is possible to restore not only the files themselves, but also the entire structure of the folders on the disk, as well as their time stamps.
- Search for files by file signatures, that is, by a sequence of bytes characteristic of a particular type of file, for example, jpg or doc files. It is used in cases when information about file systems is so damaged that the first method cannot be used. In this case, only the contents of the files are restored, and information about their names, folder structure and timestamps is lost.
Program Composition
In addition to the data recovery program itself, R-Studio includes:
- Full-featured disk data editor.
- RAID recovery module. Both standard and user levels are supported. There is an automatic detection of RAID parameters.
- The module for copying disks and creating their images.
- SMART parameter monitoring module for disks.
- Data recovery module on a local network and the Internet.
- The emergency version of R-Studio for recovering data from unbootable computers. It can be launched from any of the removable media devices (USB, DVD, CD) supported by the user's computer, regardless of the installed operating system Windows, Macintosh or Linux.
- Integration module with DeepSpar Disk Imager - a professional device for creating images from faulty hard drives. (Only for technical license).

By order of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation dated November 26, 2015 No. 269, R-Studio was included in the list of requirements for the minimum configuration of the material and technical base for several types of forensic examinations conducted in federal budgetary forensic institutions of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation [10] .
