The park was founded on May 1, 1959 . In the park, besides oaks, a diverse flora is represented. The total area of the park is 57 hectares of forest, of which five hectares belong to the nature reserve fund (in particular, 300-year-old oaks grow here).
The most famous oak of the park was the “Oak of Makhno ” located on the edge of the grove from the side of the city. Two or three oblong iron objects were driven into the trunk of an oak tree. Among them were pivots , railway crutches and just random items. According to legend, they were driven into the oak by the Makhnovists, in order to raise a machine gun on the oak and attack the enemy from a height (thick oak crown) from a height [1] . In the mid-1970s, the oak withered and was sawn [2] .
The park’s constructions were initially wooden, but were later replaced by iron ones. The park has an artificial reservoir through which two bridges are thrown. Playgrounds are located throughout the Oak Grove, benches and bins are installed, cafes work. The park has many different attractions, both for children and for adults. Among them are popular: "Carnival", "Bell", "Ferris wheel", "Autodrome", "Merry hills" and "Traffic light".
