Production and use

For the production of mineralogical biscuit, special porous porcelain is used that is not coated with glaze (unpolished or unglazed), the rough surface of which finishes fine powder from the mineral.

The shape of the biscuit is different: plates, tiles, sticks, containers, etc. In the USSR and Russia, a biscuit in the form of a narrow cell or crucible was often used.

In mineralogy, a biscuit is used to diagnose minerals by the color of the trait left on it to determine one of its external optical properties.
