Career
Alberto Fernandez began his sports career in 1998. For a long time he did not have much success in the international arena, until in 2006 he became the bronze medalist of the European Championship in trap shooting.
In 2007, at the stage of the World Cup in Korea, he became the second, having won his first cup podium in his career. A year later, he performed at the Beijing Olympics . There, the Spaniard performed unsuccessfully: in the qualification, he hit only 106 out of 125 targets and shared the last place with athletes from Bolivia and the Philippines .
In 2010, Fernandez became the European champion, and later won the world championship , surpassing the experienced Russian shooter Alexei Alipov . In 2011, he won his first career cup victory at the stage in Sydney .
At his second Olympics, Fernandez once again failed. In qualifying, he made 9 misses and placed in 25th position.
At the world championships in Lima and Lonato, the Spaniard twice stopped a step away from the medal, taking fourth place. At the beginning of 2016, he won several victories in a row, including at the pre-Olympic stage in Rio de Janeiro , which took place four months before the start of the Games.
