Biography
In 1939-1945 he studied at the Lemberg Conservatory with Severin Barbague, at the Timisoara Conservatory and at the Bucharest Conservatory with George Simonis (composition, conducting), Emile Michael (piano) and George Enescu , improved in Paris. Since 1945 - conductor of the chamber orchestra of the Polish Folk Music Society in Warsaw. In 1947-1961 he directed the Philharmonic Orchestra organized by him in Poznan; and also taught conducting in 1951-1958 at the Higher Opera School and the State Higher School of Music. Since 1955 - professor of conducting classes at the Higher School of Music in Warsaw (now the University of Music). In 1961-1967 - the 2nd conductor of the Warsaw Philharmonic. Since 1978 - chief conductor and head of the Polish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. Has toured in many countries. The repertoire includes works by both Polish and Western European, as well as Russian composers. He wrote music for movies.
