Shlyakh - archaeological site, parking of the Middle Paleolithic era . It is located one and a half kilometers north of the farm Shlyakhovsky Frolovsky district of the Volgograd region . It was first discovered by a local historian V.I. Kufenko in 1988 [1] .
The first planned studies were conducted by the expedition of the Institute of the History of Material Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences under the direction of P.E. Nekhoroshev in 1990 - 1991 and 1998 - 2001 . However, by that time a significant part of the archaeological site was destroyed by a nearby quarry. Most of the research was conducted along the southern wall of the quarry. Excavations showed that Shlyakh is a group of parking lots and workshops located on a flint deposit. The total thickness of the cultural layer was 5 meters, in which there are 9 separate layers [2] .
During the research of the parking lot, several thousand objects were found, including several dozens of various tools - pointed points, scrapers, scrapers, knives, etc. Based on the results of a study of the finds, archaeologists concluded that the Shlyakh site is the first monument on the territory of the Russian Plain with the primary stone splitting technology transitional from the Middle to the Upper Paleolithic [2] .
