History
Until 2015, the canton included the communes:
- La Lond (2,275 people)
- Orival (955 people)
- Saint-Aubin-les-Elbeuf
- Elbeuf
As a result of the 2015 reform [1], the composition of the canton was changed.
Composition of the canton from March 22, 2015
The canton includes the communes (population according to the National Institute of Statistics for 2014 ):
- Grand Couron (9,840 people)
- La Buy (764 people)
- La Lond (2 304 people)
- Moulineaux (963 people)
- Orival (954 people)
- Elbeuf (16 680 people)
Policy
In the 2017 presidential election, the canton residents cast in the 1st round to Jean-Luc Melanschon 27.0% of the vote against 25.1% of Marin Le Pen , 20.9% of Emmanuel Macron and 11.5% of Francois Fillon ; in the 2nd round, Macron won the canton, receiving 62.2% of the vote. (2012 1st round: Francois Hollande - 35.8%, Marine Le Pen - 19.1%, Nicolas Sarkozy - 18.3%; 2nd round: Hollande - 63.7%. 2007 1st round: Segolen Royal - 33.9%, Sarkozy - 23.9%; Round 2: Royal - 56.3%).
Since 2015, the canton has been represented on the Council of the Seaside Department by the vice-mayor of the city of Gran Couron, Julie Lesage, and Senator, former President of the General Council of the Primorye Department, Sena Didier Marie (both Socialist Party ).
