Anastasia Ivanovna Arkhipova (born August 8, 1955 , Moscow ) is a Soviet and Russian illustrator , Honored Artist of the Russian Federation , chairman of the "Book Graphics" section of the Moscow Union of Artists , corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts .

Biography
Anastasia Arkhipova was born on August 8, 1955 in Moscow . Grown up among artists, grandfather and father - book graphics. Grandfather - B. Dekhterev ( People's Artist of the RSFSR , professor , chief artist of the publishing house "Children's Literature" ). Father - I. D. Arkhipov - graphic artist, Honored Artist of the RSFSR (illustrated "Sadko" , "Heroes of Hellas", illustrations for Lermontov's "Borodino" were subsequently purchased by the Borodino Panorama Museum) [2] . She started drawing from early childhood, she was also seriously interested in music (piano). In 1972 she graduated from school number 39 with in-depth study of the English language .
In 1978, she received a diploma from the Moscow State Institute. V.I. Surikova , where she studied at the course "Workshop of the poster" with professors O. M. Savostyuk and B. A. Uspensky . At the institute, she met her first future husband, illustrator A. A. Koshkin. She made her debut with a book for the publishing house “Children's Literature” “Path to the Mountains” by Gurgen Gabrielyan, at the same time a small book “Princess on the Pea” was published with a circulation of 5,000,000 copies [3] .
After studying, she worked briefly in the poster studio, but returned to the book and turned to illustrating the work of H.K. Andersen . In 1979-1980, the books Flint , The Persistent Tin Soldier, and other fairy tales by Andersen with drawings by A. I. Arkhipova were published, which were sold in the USSR with a total circulation of more than 3,500,000 copies.
In 1985, the director of the German publishing house Schreiber Verlag, Gerhard Schreiber, ordered the artist to illustrate the Brothers Grimm ’s fairy tale “Happy Hans”. After the successful publication of the book, he entered into a long-term contract with her, and the books “Tales of the Brothers Grimm” and “Tales of Andersen” were published in Germany . Through the publishing house Schreiber Verlag, the rights to publish books by A. I. Arkhipova were acquired in Brazil , the USA , and South. Korea , China and European countries.
In 2002, the Egmont-Russia publishing house published in Russian The Tales of Andersen and The Tales of the Grimm Brothers, which became popular abroad [4] .
In 2007, A. I. Arkhipova was elected to the post of chairman of the "Book Graphics" section. She worked in the jury of international and Russian competitions, was a participant in international congresses [5] , the organizer of the All-Russian contest “Image of a book”.
Since 2014 - Associate Professor at the Department of Graphic Arts, Moscow State Art Academy named after S. G. Stroganova [6] .
Since 2018 - Vice President of the International Council for the Children's Book (IBBY) [7] .
Awards and recognition
- 1995 - illustration “Girl with matches” was used by UNICEF for a Christmas card .
- 2003 - laureate of the prize "Best Illustrator of the Year" at the International Book Fair in Moscow [8] .
- From 2007-2012, there were 2 terms as a member of the Executive Committee of the International Council for the Children's Book (IBBY) [9] .
- 2010 - Ministry of Agriculture and diploma of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications.
- 2012 - Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts [10] .
- 2013 - RAX silver medal, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation .
Drawing Technique

| I work in watercolor, a very small brush. Watercolor artists sometimes work with a lot of water on textured paper when it spreads. And I like the technique more that allows you to work out the drawing more, to make the form complex. And so I work with small strokes. |
