The elections of deputies of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea of the VII convocation were held on the whole of Korea on April 13, 2016 . From April 8 to April 9, 2016, early voting took place. The elections were held according to a mixed electoral system: out of 300 deputies, 47 were elected by party lists in a single national district ( proportional system ), and another 253 in single-member districts ( majority system ). As a result of the election, the ruling Senuri party was defeated, failing to get a majority of the votes, and the large opposition Joint Democratic Party won.
