Biography
Nikita Favorsky was born on May 10 (23), 1915 in Moscow [1] into the family of the famous graphic artist Vladimir Andreevich Favorsky and the artist Maria Vladimirovna Favorskaya. At the age of 5-6 years, Nikita became interested in drawing [2] . By the age of 16 he already mastered the art of graphics. In the autumn of 1931, his work was presented at an art exhibition in Johannesburg [3] .
In 1932, Nikita Favorsky entered the Moscow Polygraphic Institute . His teachers were Pavel Pavlinov , Mikhail Rodionov and Andrei Goncharov . While studying, he tried himself in various techniques: wood engraving , watercolor and oil . He also engaged in wooden sculpture and monumental painting . He traveled a lot, was in Siberia, in Transbaikalia, in the North, on the Kola Peninsula, in Gorky at a car factory. Based on these trips, he created a series of watercolors, drawings and engravings. In 1938 he graduated from the institute. His graduation work was the illustrations to Alexander Pushkin 's “ Captain's Daughter ” [3] .
After graduating from the institute, together with Andrei Goncharov and Mikhail Pikov, illustrated the medieval Armenian epic " David of Sasun ." He was engaged in painting the sanatorium Narkomtyazhproma in Kislovodsk (not preserved). He worked in the workshop of Lev Bruni and Vladimir Favorsky. In 1940, he illustrated the Kalmyk folk epic “ Dzhangar ” and the guidebook “Architecture of the Zagorsky Kremlin”. Together with his father was engaged in painting the curtain for the Central Theater of the Red Army [3] .
After the start of the Great Patriotic War, he enlisted in the national militia. Served as a sapper. He died in 1941 at the front [1] .
Maria Favorskaya said about her son [2] :
The fact that Vladimir Andreevich for several years inspired, explained, showed examples to his students, students, was invested in the attitude and hands of this young son, as inheritance from his father. In addition, small artists have merged in it: great-grandfather Vladimir Osipovich, grandmother Olga Vladimirovna and me. The result is a rare flower of art. But the war took him, not giving him the full bloom and show all that could be expected from him. |
In 1991, the Pushkin Museum in them. A. S. Pushkin held an exhibition of works by Nikita Favorsky, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of his death [2] .
