Biography
Born in Genoa in 1614 . Like other members of the noble family of Gentile, he took an active part in the war of 1625 between Genoa and the Duchy of Savoy. He received his first public office at the age of twenty, when he was appointed in charge of receiving Admiral Castile during his journey to Sicily.
Over time, he held various government posts, was elected to the Senate of the Republic, and survived the plague that befell Genoa and the entire coast in 1656-1657.
He was elected on March 10, 1667, at the same time becoming king of Corsica. His reign was peaceful and peaceful. He had some disagreements with the rector of the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, the Genoese Archbishop Jambattista Spinola and the Inquisition. Approved the opening of the departments of canonical and civil law at the University of Genoa and the departments of moral philosophy and mathematics at a Jesuit college.
On March 10, 1669, he completed his mandate, after which he was responsible for public works, and also participated in the clashes of 1672 between Genoa and the Duchy of Savoy.
He died in Genoa in 1681 and was buried in the Basilica of San Siro.
