History
The ballet was staged in 1952 by the choreographer Irya Koskinen . As a libretto , the tale of the Finnish writer Yurie Kokko “ Pessi and Illusion ” is used. The music for the ballet was written by composer Ahti Sonninen .
The premiere of the fairy tale ballet took place during the tour of the Finnish National Ballet , which for many years under the direction of the director of the Finnish National Opera Alfons Almi took place in summer throughout Finland. Leading Finnish dancers Mai-Lis Rajala and Doris Layne were involved as soloists. Soon the ballet became one of the most popular national ballets [1] .
