Inter-ethnic conflict (inter-ethnic conflict) - a conflict between members of ethnic communities , usually living in close proximity to any state. Since “ nationality ” in Russian usually means the same as “ethnicity”, it is sometimes called an interethnic conflict.

General Definition
Ethnic conflict is a conflict between groups of people belonging to different ethnic groups . This is a special form of social or political conflict, with some features:
- In the conflicting groups, there is a separation along ethnic lines;
- Parties seek support in an ethnically related or ethnically friendly environment;
- In certain types of ethnic conflicts, the ethnic factor tends to politicize;
- New participants identify with one of the parties to the conflict on the basis of a common ethnic identity, even if this position is not close to them;
- Ethnic conflicts are often not valuable and occur around those or other objects and interests of groups.
Legislation
Russia
In the Russian Federation for incitement of hostility on a national basis (this concept can include the dissemination of racist, extremist, separatist and other similar ideologies, as well as provocations of interethnic conflicts). Article 282 of the Criminal Code provides for criminal liability in the form of punishment.
... a fine in the amount of from one hundred thousand to three hundred thousand rubles or in the amount of the salary or other income of the convicted person for a period of one to two years, or deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, or compulsory work up to one hundred eighty hours, or correctional labor for up to one year, or imprisonment for up to two years.

- Haiti (between African Creoles , on the one hand, and mulattoes and whites ( indigenous whites almost destroyed during the conflict ), on the other)
- Mexico (between mestizo mexicans and indians of the south of the country ( Yucatan war of races , Zapatist army of national liberation ))
