Malamocco ( Italian: Malamocco , lat. Metamauco ) is a historical settlement in Italy , in the province of Venice, Venice , on the island of Lido . Administratively included in the municipality of Lido Pellestrina, which is part of the commune of Venice.

History
Malamocco is one of the earliest settlements of the Venice lagoon . It has existed since antiquity as the port of Padua . Population and significance grew during the barbarian invasions of mainland Italy.
The fourth doge of the Republic of Venice , Theodato , in 742 moved his residence from Heraclea to Malamocco.
The inhabitants of Malamocco showed heroism during the six-month siege of the republic by King Pipin during the Franco-Venetian War (809-810) . Agnell of the Partnership , who led the defense of Malamocco, was elected the 10th Doge of Venice. However, after the war, the political center was decided to move from Malamocco, which turned out to be rather vulnerable during an attack from the sea, to the island of Rivoalto (Rialto) in the depths of the lagoon.
In 1106, a catastrophic flood completely destroyed Malamocco. A year later, the city began to recover on the west coast of Lido (previously it was located on the eastern, Adriatic coast). This corresponds to its modern location.
