Biography
Alexander Moyzes was born in the family of the composer and teacher Mikulas Moyzes ( Slovak. Mikuláš Moyzes ; 1872-1944). He graduated from the Bratislava Conservatory. In 1925-1929 he studied at the Prague Conservatory under , Otakar Sheen (composition), Otakar Ostrilá (conducting). In 1928-1930, he perfected himself with Vitezslav Novak . From 1929 he taught at the Higher School of Performing Arts in Bratislava , from 1949 - professor, in 1965-1971 - rector. In 1937-1948 he worked as the chief music editor of Bratislava Radio. In 1969-1970 - Chairman of the Union of Slovak Composers. He appeared in print as a music critic. Engaged in the processing of Slovak folk songs; wrote music for theater and cinema.
