Content
Club career
In 1975, he moved to Ghana's most successful club, Asante Kotoko . After a four-year period with Asante Kotoko, during which he began to be drafted into the national team of Ghana and was recognized as an African footballer of the year in 1978. Razak left Ghana in 1979 and moved to New York Cosmos from NASL , where he played with former World Cup winners Franz Beckenbauer and Carlos Alberto . In 1981, after spending almost two years in a New York club, the Ghanaian striker decided to return to his homeland by signing a contract with his former club, Asante Kotoko. After spending one year at Asante Kotoko, he moved to the club from Al Ain UAE , where he spent two seasons. He then signed a contract with Erab Contractors Club, where he spent the next two years of his playing career before returning to Ghana, again at Asanta Kotoko, with whom he twice became the champion of Ghana in 1986 and 1987. Five years later, Razak moved to the Ivorian club " Africa Sport ", where he ended his career two years later.
International Career
Razak was the footballer of the Ghana national team , who participated in the 1978 African Cup of Nations as hosts of the tournament. He scored two victorious goals in the tournament - one against the goals of Zambia in the group stage, and the other to Tunisia in the semifinals. In the final, Ghana defeated Uganda , winning her 3rd continental title. Largely because of his contribution to winning the African Cup of Nations, a few months later, Razak was named the African footballer of the year, becoming the second of three Ghanaian players to ever win this award. Abdul Razak played for the Ghana national team from 1975 to 1988, in which he played 70 matches and scored 25 goals.
Coaching career
After leaving football as a player, Razak, who became a playing coach back at Al Ain, began his coaching career as the head of several semi-professional Togolese clubs before moving to Benin's Dragons de l'Uéme . In 2000, he was appointed assistant coach of the Ghana national team. After leaving the Ghanaian team, Razak went to Mali , where he won the country's championship , cup and super cup as a coach of the Stud Mallen football club. The club did not suffer a single defeat on the way to the title.
