Getting

  • In nature, there is a mineral luberoite - Pt 5 Se 4 [1] .
  • Fusion of stoichiometric amounts of pure substances:
Pt+Se→1055oCPtSe{\ displaystyle {\ mathsf {Pt + Se \ {\ xrightarrow {1055 ^ {o} C}} \ PtSe}}}

Physical Properties

Platinum selenide forms monoclinic syngony crystals, space group P 2 1 / c , cell parameters a = 0.65806 nm , b = 0.46248 nm , c = 1.1115 nm , β = 78.40 ° [2] [3] .

The compound melts at a temperature of 1055 ° C.

The compound has a wide homogeneity region of PtSe 0.70 ÷ PtSe 0.85 and the formula Pt 5 Se 4 is attributed to it [4] .
