The battle for El-Karyatayan is an episode of the civil war in Syria , during which the city of El-Qaryatayn was liberated from terrorists by the forces of the CAA and the Russian Aerospace Force . The official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Igor Konashenkov, later calls this operation unique, since not a single CAA soldier and militia members died during its execution [1] .

April 8, 2016
On March 27, 2016, after the liberation of the city of Palmyra, the Syrian Armed Forces opened the way to the city of El Qariatayn, to which military forces began to pull.
On April 2, 2016, the Syrian Arab Army, with the assistance of the Russian Aerospace Forces, began the liberation of the city of Al-Qaryatayn. During the operation, the militants of the IS about 30 times tried to transfer reinforcements from the city of Ar-Raqqah to the city, but each time their attempts were stopped by the actions of the Russian Federation forces forces.
On April 3, 2016, the CAA and VKS RF completely freed the city from terrorists [2] .
