Holiday Date
From the Gospel of Luke it is known that the father of John, the righteous Zacharias , was from the line of Abba (the eighth of twenty-four). If we take into account the fact that the fall of Jerusalem occurred at the end of Saturday 9th of August and coincided with the beginning of the ministry of the first series, then conception could occur on Nisan 7 (April 7) or 28 Elul (September 22) [1] .
Liturgical veneration
The celebration of the Conception of John the Baptist has been known since the 5th century. The holiday is of Constantinople origin and initially coincided with the New Year, which about 462 years was moved from September 23 to September 1 [1] .
The holiday is among the small hymns . The service is based on reading the Gospel of Luke , 2 conceived (containing a story about the appearance of an angel to the righteous Zechariah) and the Epistle to the Galatians , 210 conceived.
