Vytautas-Arunas Zhebrunas ( lit. Vytautas Arūnas Žebriūnas ; August 8, 1930 , Kaunas - September 9, 2013 , Vilnius ) - Soviet Lithuanian film director and screenwriter, laureate of the State Prize of the Lithuanian SSR (1960), Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and Art (1991).

Biography
Before coming to the cinema, Zhebrunas was an architect and artist. In 1955, he graduated from the Art Institute in Vilnius (now Vilnius Academy of Art ) with a diploma of architect [1] . In cinema, he began working as a movie artist, Julius Janonis (1959). The first directorial work is the film “The Last Shot” (1960).
In 1961 - 1962 he trained at the Mosfilm film studio with director Mikhail Romm . In 1988 he became a member of the Initiative Group of the Lithuanian Perestroika Movement, in 1988-1990 he was a member of the Council of the Sejm Sayudis . [one]
In 1989-2000, Zhebrunas taught at the Lithuanian Academy of Music (until 1992, the Lithuanian State Conservatory); Associate Professor (1994). [one]
Died September 9, 2013. An urn with ashes was buried at the Antakalnis Cemetery in Vilnius.
Was married. Daughter Monica (born July 28, 1966) as a child starred with her father in the film “ The Adventures of Calle the Detective ”, now she is an artist, lives in the USA . Monica is married to David Edgar, has two daughters: Sofia and Minia.
