Lermontov Street (Tbilisi)

Lermontov Street ( Georgian ლერმონტოვის ქუჩა ) is a street in Tbilisi , in the historical district of Sololaki , from Abesadze Street to Machabeli Street . The continuation of the street is Lortkipanizde Street (formerly Nagornaya) [1] .

Content

History

It was outlined in the 1840s (Sololakskaya street), earlier the territory at the foot of Mount Mtatsminda was occupied by the Sololaksky Gardens. The development of the territory was carried out in accordance with plans approved by the city authorities, which predetermined rectangular street division.

Presumably, M. Yu. Lermontov was in the street 2 at the time of his service in the Caucasus ( Nizhny Novgorod Dragoon Regiment ).

Located on the street (modern address - d. 8) 3rd Tbilisi Men's Gymnasium . The honorary trustee of the gymnasium was Ivan G. Tamamshev .
