Biography
The son of Stefano Lomellini and Oietta di Adamo, was born in Genoa in the period around 1594 . The first mention of Lomellini’s political career dates back to 1622 , when he was appointed general of the galleys. In the war between the Genoese state and the Duchy of Savoy in 1625, his name appears among aristocrats who distinguished themselves in battle.
Then he was the Ambassador of Genoa to Milan, and then worked at the Bank of San Giorgio , was appointed Senator of the Republic, and on July 24, 1646 he was elected to the highest post of Doge, 108th in Republican history. As a doge, he was also proclaimed king of Corsica.
His two-year mandate, according to historians, was calm and quiet. The doge himself suffered from gout, which several times prevented him from chairing public ceremonies. At the end of the mandate - July 24, 1648 - he was appointed life prosecutor.
He died in Genoa around 1674 , his body was buried in the Basilica of Santissima Annunziata del Vasto.
