Nathan Cutler ( born Nathan Cutler ; May 29, 1775 , Lexington - June 8, 1861 , ) is an American politician, the 7th governor of Maine .

Biography
In 1798, Nathan Cutler graduated from Dartmouth College , after which he taught for a year at Middlebury College . He then studied law in Worcester and was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar Association in 1801. For some time, Cutler practiced in his hometown, after which in 1803 he moved to Farmington .
In 1812, Cutler was appointed judge of the Common-Pliz County, but refused to take this post. He was elected to the Massachusetts Legislature several times before the separation of the Isle of Man . In 1819, Cutler was a delegate to the Maine Constitutional Congress, as well as a member of the state name and image committee. He was a member of the state senate, and in 1828 and 1829 was elected its chairman.
On October 8, 1829, Governor passed away and Cutler, as chairman of the Senate, took office. He held this post until January 6, 1830. After retiring, Cutler was a member of the Presidential Electoral College in 1832 and a member of the Maine House of Representatives in 1844.
He was married to Hannah Moore, they had 9 children. Nathan Cutler died on June 8, 1861.
