Biography
Born May 2, 1972 in Volgograd. Since 1982, he has been living permanently in Moscow [3] . According to his own memoirs: “grew up in an ordinary Soviet family: father - an officer of the General Staff, mother - a chemical engineer. The issues of faith were not discussed at home, they tried not to talk too much about politics with me, but I could guess from certain phrases that my father did not have a special love for the Soviet regime ” [4] .
He recalls the choice of a life path as follows: “From childhood I was fond of history, loved to read historical literature, but physics also interested me and was easy for me. And I preferred it, because I did not want to write about history from a Marxist perspective , and I did not know what could be written differently. I graduated from school in 1989, at that time a lot was changing, but hardly anyone could imagine that in just two years, everything will change dramatically. In addition, two years before that, after the eighth grade, I moved to the physics and mathematics school No. 542 at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, and from there there was already a direct road to this university ” [4] .
In 1995, he graduated from the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute , but due to the difficult situation in science at that time, he could not work in his specialty: “there was no distribution at that time, we all were asked to look for a job for ourselves a few months before the diploma was defended and then bring a certificate to MEPhI that such and such an institute or such and such a laboratory takes you. I traveled to several research and production centers in Moscow and the Moscow region <...> and everywhere I saw a similar picture: empty and lifeless rooms, in which life had been boiling until very recently. He was convinced personally that science in the country was dying, and it was not clear where I should go to work in my specialty. At that moment, one of my classmates said that he was advised to go to the Department of Informatics at the newly formed St. Tikhon Institute. It was partly by profession and at the same time consonant with my soul <...> So I ended up here. The head of the department, now deceased Nikolai Evgenievich Emelyanov , suggested that I engage in the database “New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia, who suffered for Christ” . Next step by step: I joined the work, I wanted to learn more about what I was doing, I entered the St. Tikhon Institute ” [4] .
In 2000 he graduated from the Orthodox St. Tikhon Theological Institute [3] .
On February 7, 2004, he was ordained deacon [1] .
In March 2004, by the decision of the PSTBI Dissertation Council, he was awarded the Master of Theology degree for his work on the topic “Jurisdictional Conflicts in the Russian Orthodox Church in the Second Half of the 1920s - 1930s. in the light of the position of a number of senior Russian hierarchs ”(scientific adviser is Archpriest Vladimir Vorobyov ) [3] .
On October 18, 2005, at the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, he defended an amended version of the master's thesis as a dissertation for the degree of candidate of historical sciences entitled “Internal conflicts in the Russian Orthodox Church in the second half of the 1920s - 1930s. (in the light of the position of the highest hierarchs) ” [3] [5] .
On July 2, 2006, he was ordained in priest [1] to the church of St. Nicholas in Kuznets, in which he continues to serve [3] .
In October 2010, Priest Alexander Mazyrin was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor [3] .
In March 2012, by the decision of the PSTU dissertation council, he was awarded a doctorate in church history for his work on the theme “Patriarchal Locum Tenens Metropolitan Petr (Polyansky) and the highest church administration under conditions of persecution by the authorities and the struggle for the unity of the Church” [3] .
On December 25, 2012, by a resolution of the Holy Synod, he was included in the newly formed Church and Public Council to perpetuate the memory of new martyrs and confessors of Russia, chaired by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia [6] .
