Biography

Born in 1888 in Nakkil . In 1921, he took 4th place at the World Championship in wrestling. In 1922 he won the bronze medal of the World Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling. In 1924 he took part in freestyle wrestling competitions at the Olympic Games in Paris , where he took 7th place.

Subsequently, he completely switched to trotting races ; in 1938 and 1939 he won the championship of Finland.

His son, Toivo Topias Pohjala, was a member of parliament in 1975-1987, and minister of agriculture and forestry in 1987-1991.
