Born in 1884 in the vicinity of Heinola . In 1902 he was one of the founders of the Helsinki sports club "Yuryu". In 1908, he joined the national team to participate in the Olympic Games in London , but could not find the funds for the trip. In 1911 he won the bronze medal of the World Cup. In 1912 he took part in the Olympic Games in Stockholm , but unsuccessfully.
