Russian Biathlon Cup - a series of Russian biathlon competitions among men and women. Held by the Russian Biathlon Union .
It has been held since 1992 [1] and is the assignee of the USSR Biathlon Cup. In the early years, the competition scheme was different, as well as the USSR Cup - qualifying competitions in the regions and the final stage. Later, at the turn of the 1990s and 2000s, the tournament switched to a modern scheme - several equal stages, united by a common classification.
The Cup of Russia competitions annually consist of several stages (in the 2015/16 season - of eight), also the championship of Russia is counted in the offset of the Cup. The first stages of the Cup are held in late November - early December, the final - in early April. At each stage, competitions are held in two or four disciplines. Part of the stages among men and women are carried out separately, at some stages, juniors take part with adult athletes.
Competitions include personal performances in the individual race , sprint , pursuit , mass start , as well as in non-Olympic disciplines played within the framework of the Russian championship - super sprint , super spasuit and marathon . According to the results of the performances, the athletes are ranked by the sum of points in all disciplines (overall standings). In addition, various relay races are held within the framework of the Cup of Russia, the results of which (as well as the results of athletes in personal races) are counted in the regional standings.
