Story
In early 1942, after four years of work in Nazi Germany, the Soviet intelligence officer Skorin crossed the front line. In the transition, he gets a wound in the leg.
In the spring of the same 1942, the Major of Abwehr Baron Georg von Schlosser arrives in Tallinn. In 1939, von Schlosser, working in the USSR, presented an analytical report on the level of the military power of the USSR, which the leadership of the Third Reich did not like. Now Schlosser arrived in Tallinn to conduct a major operation to transfer misinformation to Soviet intelligence, and thereby rehabilitated in the eyes of the leadership as a patriot and high-class intelligence officer.
According to the plan of Schlosser, two saboteurs of the local intelligence school are being sent to the Soviet rear. One of the saboteurs will confess to the Soviet counterintelligence and report on him and his mission in Tallinn. Schlosser hopes that a Soviet intelligence officer will arrive in Tallinn to establish contacts with him.
Soon, the senior lieutenant of state security Skaryin is assigned to arrive in Tallinn, find an approach to Schlossseur, and learn the plans of the German intelligence leadership.
Under the name of Paul Krieger, recovering from an injury and looking for his bride, Skaryn arrives in Tallinn, ostensibly for treatment. He meets von Schlossser, and he begins his active development. Comparing the evidence and the smallest details, Schlosser exposes Skorin. He is being kept under surveillance in the von Schlosser mansion. Schlosser is trying to psychologically break Skaryna and re-recruit him for use in his assignment. Skorin shows Schloßeru that he allegedly gave up and is ready to carry out any instructions from Schlosser. The radio game begins: Skaryn passes to the intelligence center, which Shlosser prepares for him in advance. At the same time, Schlosser uses a new technique: Skorin's programs do not go on the air right away, but first they are recorded on a tape recorder, which Skaryn does not realize. At the end of each message, Skaryn puts an end, which is a conditional signal about work under control. Schlosser detects this signal and the final point is cut from all Skorin radiograms. At the end of the operation, Schlosser reports to Skaryna that all his tricks are revealed and the necessary misinformation to the Stavka has already passed. Skaryn, having learned about it, goes into hard drinking .
Meanwhile, events at the front show that Moscow did not believe the reports of Schlosser and correctly assessed the plans of the German command. Now Skorin, in turn, reveals his combination to Schlosseur. He himself deliberately provoked his failure, the signal about the work under control was transmitted via a spare communication channel, and Schlosser, thus, in fact, with his own hands, transmitted to Moscow the most important strategic information. From the very beginning, this was the intention of the Omega operation - to catch Schlosser on a hook and turn it around.
