Shmatovo is a village in the Stupinsky district of the Moscow region as part of the City settlement Zhilyovo (until 2006, it was part of the Novoselkovsky rural district [2] ). In 2016, in Shmatovo, in fact, a cottage settlement - with 7 residents in the village, 5 streets and 8 garden associations [3] , the village is connected by bus with the district center and neighboring settlements [4] . Since the 18th century (1728), the Assumption Church existed in Shmatovo. In 1821, a new, brick building with the Nikolsky chapel was built, broken in the middle of the 20th century [5] .

Shmatovo is located in the central part of the district, on the Berezynka River, the right tributary of the Kashirka River), the height of the village center above sea level is 152 m [4] . The nearest settlement is Kolychevo - about 0.8 km to the east.
