Sylvester Yasevich Todriya ( Georgian: სილიბისტრო ია ; 4 (16) January 1880, Ianeuli village, Ozurget district , Kutaisi province - June 8, 1936 , Tiflis ) - a member of the revolutionary movement in Russia, a Soviet statesman.

Biography

Born into a poor peasant family. From 1897 he worked in the printing house in Batum, mastered the profession of typesetter. In 1901 he joined the RSDLP . Participant strike of typographic workers. In 1902-1905 he lived and worked in Baku . In the autumn of 1905 he left for Moscow, a participant in the December 1905 uprising in Moscow. December 11, 1905 was arrested. After his release, he worked in various printing houses in St. Petersburg and Vyborg. In 1915 he returned to Tiflis, headed the trade union of printers. In the spring of 1918 he moved to Vladikavkaz .

After the establishment of Soviet power in Georgia (February 25, 1921), he held a number of responsible posts in the leadership of the country. In 1921, the chairman of the Tiflis Revolutionary Committee; 1921-1922 People's Commissar of Social Security, People's Commissar of Agriculture, 1927-1929 People's Commissar of Labor, since 1929 - Secretary of the CEC of the Georgian SSR and ZSFSR .

He wrote a number of literary works, satirically denounced class enemies, clergymen, etc. He collaborated in the Georgian comic magazine Niangi (Crocodile). One of the organizers and leaders of the Association of Proletarian Writers of Georgia.

He was buried in the Mtatsminda Pantheon , but later reburied from there during the campaign of decommunization.
