History
History of the Oil and Gas Industry
- The beginning of the oil-developing industry in the territory of modern Uzbekistan was laid by D.P. Petrov in 1885 . He organized oil production from two sources (wells), not far from the village of Chimion in the Ferghana Valley . [4] [5] Beginning in 1900, serious oil production began in this area, and in 1904 gushing oil was released with a depth of over 270 meters [4] [5]
- In 1906, in the Ferghana Valley, under the guidance of a communications engineer A.N. Kovalevsky was built Vannovsky oil refinery , which consisted of two distillation units, periodic operation. The main products of the plant were lighting kerosene and heating oil . Gasoline production began in 1915-1916 , when the first cars with an internal combustion engine appeared in the Turkestan Territory . [4] [5] [6] . Oil products were exported to China and Afghanistan by rail and pack way. [4] [5]
- In 1907, the refinery was bought by the Nobel Brothers Partnership , which began a phased reconstruction of the plant. In 1908, the Chimion-Vannovskaya oil pipeline was commissioned, and a tank farm was built.
- In 1940, a laboratory was equipped at the plant, and the quality of the process improved. Production volumes reached 176 thousand tons of oil products per year. [4] [5] [7] [8]
- In 1953, the first gas was produced at the Setalan-tepe field in the Kyzyl-Kum desert.
- In 1972, the construction of one of the world's largest Mubarek gas processing plants in the Kashkadarya region was completed. [4] [5]
- In 1980, a plant was built in Shurtan.
1991 - Present
In 1992, after Uzbekistan gained independence, the presidential decree defined tasks for the oil refining industry, such as “increasing oil and gas production”, “improving technological processes for oil and gas processing”, “increasing hydrocarbon reserves, especially liquid ones”.
- On May 3, in 1992, President I. Karimov signed a decree “On the formation of the Uzbek state oil and gas industry concern“ Uzbekneftegas ”, [9] [10] and on December 23 of the same year, a presidential decree“ On the transformation of the Uzbek state oil concern and gas industry to the National Corporation of the Oil and Gas Industry Uzbekneftegaz. [4] [5]
- In December 11, in 1998, the President of Uzbekistan signed a decree “On the transformation of the National Oil and Gas Industry Corporation“ Uzbekneftegaz ”into the National Holding Company“ Uzbekneftegaz. ” [11] In the same year, a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 523“ On Organization and the activities of the National Holding Company Uzbekneftegaz [12] [13] .
