History
1963-1991
The construction of the soot plant began in February 1963, on February 20, 1965, the first production line of the plant [2] was put into operation, and on March 12, 1965, the first 100 tons of soot were received. The main product of the plant was carbon black, which was used at the enterprises of tire, rubber, cable, paint and varnish and printing industries [1] .
On January 1, 1966, the Kremenchug soot plant was separated from the Kremenchug refinery into a separate enterprise.
In 1970-1971 the second phase of the plant was commissioned [1] .
By the beginning of the 1980s, the enterprise was notable for a high level of mechanization and automation of production processes, all carbon black was produced in granular form [1] .
After 1991
In 1993, due to a decrease in the need for carbon black with a dry granulation method, the plant was decommissioned and subsequently dismantled two first-order process streams.
In May 1995, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine included the plant in the list of enterprises subject to privatization during 1995 [3] .
In 1996, the plant was transformed into an open joint stock company.
In August 1997, the plant was included in the list of enterprises of strategic importance for the economy and security of Ukraine [4] .
In 1998, two second-stage process flows (5th and 6th process flows) were decommissioned at the plant.
In July 1998, the company's quality management system was certified by the Dutch company TNO Certification in accordance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 9002: 1994.
In July 2001, OJSC “KZTU” introduced a quality management system in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001: 2000 with elements of ISO 14001: 1996.
In December 2001, the plant commissioned its own chemical water treatment plant, which increased autonomy and reduced the cost of production.
In the period from September 2 to 15, 2006, due to the threat of force raider seizure, the plant practically did not work [5] [6] .
The economic crisis that began in 2008 and the entry of Ukraine into the WTO on May 16, 2008 complicated the situation of the plant. Due to the fall in demand for carbon black, from November 1, 2008, the company switched to a 5-hour working day, workers' salaries were reduced [7] . In 2009, the plant produced 35.8 thousand tons of carbon black — 33.2 thousand tons less than in 2008 [8] .
In 2013, the plant reduced soot production by 12.8% compared to 2012 [9] and produced 52.35 thousand tons of products. In 2014, the plant increased production by 5.5% and produced 55.2 thousand tons of products [10] .
