The Reformed Church of Oberwart ( German: Reformierte Kirchengemeinde Oberwart [1] , Reformierte Kirche Oberwart ) is a Calvinist ( Puritan ) Reformed Church and one of the nine Reformed parish communities of the Evangelical Church of the Helvetic Confession of Austria ( Reformed (Evangelical) Parish Community ) The temple is located in the city of Oberwart of the Austrian federal state of Burgenland and is the oldest continuously operating Protestant church not only of the Evangelical Church of the Helvet Confession , but of the entire Protestant church organization in modern Austria .
Initially, a purely Hungarian-speaking community was annexed to Austria after the First World War, thanks to the creation of a new federal state of Burgenland, and is now a valuable part of the Evangelical Church of the Helvetic Confession in Austria . [2]

Building
Due to special circumstances, in the days of the Counter-Reformation , the Reformed community of Oberwart managed to survive and conduct its rites with the official tacit consent since 1681 in a wooden, airless church structure. The existing church was built as a successor in 1771-1772. and opened January 10, 1773. The tower was built only in 1810, and the organ for the anniversary - the century. The clock was installed on the tower in 1907. In 1990, internal repair took place with the restoration of the traditional Calvinist interior. External reconstruction took place from 1998 to 1999. Parish
The Evangelical Church Parish of the Helvetic Confession of Oberwart territorially covers the entire territory of the federal state of Burgenland , as well as the former political district of Hartberg , located in the federal state of Styria . [five]
The Reformed community of Oberwart today has 1,500 parishioners [6] (as of December 31, 2009 — 1,446 parishioners) [7] . Rites and social activities are carried out in German and Hungarian. [2]
