Appearance

Originally intended to name the television series Fighting the Tigers, Daddy’s Army was partly coined by co-author and creator Jimmy Perry based on experience with the militia. Perry was only 17 years old when he joined the tenth battalion of Hertfordshire . Mother did not like that he went out at night and was afraid that he might catch a cold; he partially resembled the character of Private Pike [1] .

Characters

  • Captain Mannering ( Eng. Captain Mainwaring , [ ˈ m æ n ə r ɪ ŋ ]) (Arthur Low) - a brave and undoubtedly patriotic local manager of the bank, during the war appointed himself the leader of the militia contingent of his city.
  • Sergeant Wilson (John Sergeant Wilson ) (John Le Majerer).
  • Corporal Jones ( English Lance Corporal Jones ) ( Clive Dunn ).
  • Private Frazer ( John Lori ).
  • Private Walker (James Beck).
  • Private Godfrey ( Eng. Private Godfrey ) (Arnold Ridley).
  • Private Pike (Ian Lavender).
  • Head of ARP Warden Hodges (Bill of the Dead).

Episodes

In total, the television series contains 9 seasons and 80 episodes, including Christmas special issues.

Lost episodes

The first two seasons were recorded and shown in black and white, the third through ninth seasons were recorded and shown in color.
