Ivanov, Nikolai Nikolaevich (scientist-road builder)

Born on December 9 ( 21 ), 1888 in St. Petersburg in the family of a doctor. In 1906 he graduated from the 6th St. Petersburg Gymnasium with a gold medal ^[1] and in 1912 the St. Petersburg Institute of Railway Engineers .

He worked on railroad surveys in Central Asia .

In 1919-1923 he served in the Red Army , supervised the construction of military roads.

Since 1924 - engineer at the Road Research Bureau at the Leningrad Department of Local Communications. In 1929, the Bureau was transformed into the Central Research Institute of Nadi-Tsornii, and Ivanov became deputy. Director of Research. In the years 1940-1942. - Director of the Leningrad branch of DorNII.

In 1926-1938 he taught at LIIZhT , since 1938 - at MADI ; Professor (since 1934), Doctor of Technical Sciences (1939, without defending a dissertation).

In 1941, he proposed the "Method for calculating non-rigid coatings of the DorNII", called the "method of Professor Ivanov."

In 1941-1942 he remained in the besieged Leningrad .

In 1942-1954 - Director of the All-Union Road Research Institute (DorNII).

In the years 1948-1975 - head. Department of "Construction and maintenance of roads" MADI.

He died on July 20, 1977 .
