History

According to the “Topographic Map of Parts of St. Petersburg and Vyborg Provinces” in 1860, the village was called Tyaglinskaya New Village (Karstova) and consisted of 6 peasant households [2] .

In 1885, the village of Karstolova numbered 10 yards.

In the XIX - early XX centuries, the village administratively belonged to the Gatchina volost of the 2nd camp of the Tsarskoye Selo district of St. Petersburg province .

By 1913, the number of yards decreased to 6 [3] .

From 1917 to 1922, the adjacent villages of Bolshoy Karstolovo and Maloye Karstolovo were part of the Estonian Village Council of the Gatchina Volost of Detskoselsky Uyezd .

Since 1922, as part of the Chernitsky Village Council.

Since 1923, as part of the Estonian Village Council of Gatchina County .

Since 1924, again as part of the Chernitsky Village Council.

In 1928, the total population was 140 people [4] .

According to a topographic map of 1931, the village was called Bolshoy Karstelevo , it consisted of 25 yards, and anonymous settlements were adjacent to it.

According to administrative data of 1933, the villages were called Bolshoy Korstalovo and Maloye Korstalovo , and were part of the Chernitsky Finnish national village council of the Krasnogvardeisky district [5] .

Since 1939, as part of the Nikolsky Village Council.

From August 1, 1941 to December 31, 1943 the village was under occupation.

In 1958, the population of the village was 137 people [4] .

According to 1966, the village of Karstolovo was also part of the Nikolsky Village Council [6] .

According to 1973, the village of Karstolovo was part of the Bolshekolpansky village council [7] .

According to 1990, the village of Karstolovo was part of the Voiskovitsky Village Council [8] .

In 1997, 31 people lived in the village, in 2002 - 36 people (Russians - 80%), in 2007 - 47, in 2010 - 61 [9] [10] [11] [12] .

In 2011, there were 24 households in the village.

Geography

The village is located in the northwestern part of the district on the A120 highway (St. Petersburg southern half ring).

The distance to the administrative center of the settlement is the village of Voiskovitsy , 2 km [11] .

The distance to the nearest railway station Voyskovitsy is 4 km [6] .
