Biography
Born in 1858.
After graduating from the Vilnius Gymnasium, he entered the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at St. Petersburg University , which he graduated from in 1882.
At the end of the course he took part in soil-geological research of Nizhny Novgorod and then Poltava provinces under the guidance of prof. V.V. Dokuchaev.
In 1886 he worked as a teacher of chemistry and natural history [1] .
More than 20 years he worked in the Department of Agriculture, the Ministry of State Property of the Russian Empire .
He participated in the compilation of a new soil map of the European part of Russia [2] .
Albert Romanovich Ferkhmin died on May 4 ( 17 ), 1905 in St. Petersburg , and was buried at the Smolensk Lutheran cemetery [3] .
