Story

Quinn ( Rupert Friend ) asks to leave the CIA, and he is given an interview to assess his state of mind. The conversation goes on to events in Islamabad, where Sandy Buckman was killed. Quinn refers to the “choice” he made regarding Sandy and Carrie, who were in the car with him at the time, but did not specify. When an interviewer asks Quinn if he and Carrie are romantically involved, Quinn is angry and leaves the room.

Carrie ( Claire Danes ) is in Islamabad and discovers that the Embassy is in isolation. Nevertheless, she escapes from her guard, as well as from the ISI observation , and goes to the alternative, where her reliable allies, Fara ( Nazanin Boniadi ) and Max ( Mori Sterling ) are waiting for her. Their goal is to contact Ayan Ibrahim ( Suraj Sharma ). Farah makes her first attempt, visiting Ian's school, posing as a journalist from London. Ayan refuses to talk to her and leaves immediately. Farah tells Carrie that Ayan was "scared." Carrie notes that if someone kept Ayan silent, then he must have some valuable information.

The next day, Carrie pretends to be sick in the cafeteria's toilet to lure Ian for help, as he is a medical student. When Ian comes in, Carrie identifies herself as the head of the bureau of Farah. She tells Ayan that she knows that he is in danger, and asks him to tell her his story. Carrie offers his protection, as well as the choice to continue his studies in England or the USA. Ayan doesn't answer at all. Carrie gives him her card when she leaves.

Dar Adal ( F. Murray Abraham ) confronts Quinn in his apartment. Landlord Quinn (Emily Walker) overhears their conversation. There is a fight between them later and she tells Quinn that he does not deserve what happened to him.

Quinn, tirelessly watching an amateur video of the mess that caused Sandy to die, sees a man in a pair of videos wearing an earpiece. Quinn realizes that this incident was planned, and calls Carrie with this news. Carrie replies that she needs Quinn in Pakistan more than ever, since there is nobody here she can trust. Quinn reluctantly agrees to go.
