Short Biography

In 1954-1958 studied at the University of Indonesia and the Christian University of Indonesia (not graduated). He studied Russian at the Cultural Center of the USSR, worked at the Czechoslovak Embassy. In 1965 he graduated from the University of Friendship of Peoples. P. Lumumba [1] . Upon returning to his homeland, he taught Russian at the Academy of the Ministry of Education, Enlightenment and Culture. In 1968-1978 was in prison as sympathizing with the communists. After his release until 1993, he was to be regularly registered with the police. He received a residence permit without a mark “a former political prisoner” only in 2007. Together with his brothers Pramoudia Ananta Tur and Susilo Tur, he organized the library publishing house PATABA (Pramoedya Ananta Toer Anak Bangsa - Pramoudya Ananta Tur - son of man). Creativity

Acted as a bibliographer of his distinguished brother, wrote several memoirs, but mainly became famous for translations of Russian classics: “Hadji Murat”, “Anna Karenina”, “Resurrection”, “War and Peace” by Leo Tolstoy, several collections of stories by A.P. Chekhov, “Dead Souls” by N. V. Gogol, “Hero of Our Time” M. Yu. Lermontov [2] .
