Jason Barker ( born Jason Barker , born 1971, London ) is a British writer, translator, philosopher, teacher, director, screenwriter, and producer. Specialist in continental (and in particular, French) philosophy, Marxist, professor.

He graduated from the Surrey Institute of Design and Arts (1995) with a degree in media studies. In 2003, he received a Ph.D. from Cardiff University, where he studied philosophy under the supervision of Professor Christopher Norris .
Since 2002, he taught media studies at the University of Middlesex . Since 2005, he taught at Versailles.
He is now a professor of media philosophy at the European Graduate School (Switzerland).
Barker calls himself determined to confront the cliche that communism is a wonderful, but unrealizable idea [1] .
