In 1974, Barry Manilow recorded this song, changing the name of the girl and the name of the song to Mandy. The song became a “breakthrough” for the singer. She became his first career song in 1st place on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Easy Listening American charts and his first gold single. The name of the song was changed since another version of the song group visited the band since the time of version three years ago. in 1st place on the American charts in 1972. Therefore, Manilow decided to change the name to avoid confusion with this completely different song [5] .
