Horvat

Hrvoe Horvat ( Croatian Hrvoje Horvat , born May 22, 1946 in Bjelovar ) - Croatian Yugoslav handball player, Olympic champion in 1972 as a member of the SFRY team. Became known by the nickname "Zweba" ( Croatian Cveba ) [4] .

Play career

Club

Hrvoe came to handball at the age of 13 years in the team "Partizan" from Bjelovar, with which he repeatedly won the championship of Yugoslavia, and in 1972 won the European Cup. In the season 1975/1976, he scored an average of 12.2 points per game. In 1979, he moved to the German championship in the Milbertshofen team, and three years later, after the end of the 1982/1983 season, he ended his career playing for Schwabing.

In the national team

Horvath played for the national team of Yugoslavia , having played a record 231 games. In 1972, with the team, he won the Olympic gold in Munich, and in 1976 became the standard-bearer of the national team at the opening ceremony of the games in Montreal (in those games, the Yugoslavian team became the 5th). In 1970 and 1974, he won bronze medals at the world championships with the national team.

Coaching

In Germany, Horvath became a handball coach and worked with a number of German teams. In 2005, he became a mentor to the 2000 Coburg club and led him into the second league. Since 2013, he has been coaching the Croatian club Dubrava.

Personal life

He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb . Dunya's wife, daughters Yasenka and Vanya, and son Khrvoe. Yasenka was once married to handball player Iztok Puts , one of the most famous handball history [5] . Works and lives in Coburg.
