History

Mullagali Yaushev

The passage was built by order of the company of the Yaushev brothers , Trinity merchants of the first guild. The Chelyabinsk trading house of the Yaushevs was erected in 1912-13 according to the project of architector A. A. Fedorov [2] , who before that was the author of the project of the Yaushevs passage in Troitsk .

The passage opened on October 10, 1913. In honor of the opening of the Trading House, the Yaushev brothers paid tuition to ten students in a real school, a female gymnasium and a trading school. [3]

Three branches were located in the shopping arcade: retail-manufactory, wholesale-manufactory and wholesale-haberdashery. The store offered dozens of different fabrics, various other Russian and foreign products. [3]

In October 1915 , the passage of the Yaushev brothers suffered during the riot of female soldiers. Showcases were knocked out in it, which were subsequently replaced by grilles with ordinary window panes. [3]

Since October 22, 1917 , due to the “lack of goods and the impossibility of acquiring them,” the retail and manufacturing department of the Yaushevs passage was closed. Soon, the store building was nationalized. [3]

In 1922 , the infantry command courses were located in the premises of the former store of the Yaushev brothers.

In May 1923 , the passage of the Chelyabinsk Provincial Trade Department was opened in it. [3]

In 1948 - 1950 Due to the interior of the passage, the volume of the Philharmonic adjoining the passage (now the S. Prokofiev Concert Hall) was increased during its reconstruction. The appearance of the building has also changed: the stage box of the concert hall has appeared on top.

On February 2, 1952 , the Chelyabinsk Regional State Picture Gallery (now part of the Chelyabinsk State Museum of Fine Arts ) was opened in the premises of the Yaushevs passage. [3]

Architecture Description

The two-story passage building is built of brick. The main facade faces south, on the former Cathedral Square , named after the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ located here. To the right of the passage adjoins the stone mansion of the Yaushevs. In 1923, a museum of local lore was opened in it, now one of the departments of the Office of Rospotrebnadzor in the Chelyabinsk Region is located in the building.

The construction had three entrances. The main one was located on the central axis and accented by the attic, inside which the inscription “Trading House“ The Yaushev Brothers ”was located . The attic is supported by paired half-columns on consoles with acanthus. The decoration is made of facing ceramic tiles, large-sized glass.

The Yaushevs' passage was equipped with the latest technology, had autonomous steam heating and electric lighting, lifting machines (prototype of modern elevators).
