Esperanto European Union

The European Union of Esperanto ( Esper. Eŭropa Esperanto-Unio Eŭropa Esperanto-Unio) unites national associations of Esperanto states of the EU, holds congresses every two years in Maribor, Slovenia . In July-August 2007, 256 delegates from 28 countries attended the congress, including two members of the European Parliament , Malgozhat Gandzlik from Poland and Lyudmila Novak from Slovenia .

In December 2009, the European Union, Esperanto, printed a full-page ad in the French newspaper Mond , calling for the use of Esperanto instead of English . [one]

In 2011, the President of the European Union, Esperanto was Seán Ó Riain. [2]

Congresses

Until 2012, the Congress of the European Union of Esperantists (KEEU) outside Slovenia met 11 times. The theme of the 2012 congress was “language learning in the EU.”

At the 2011 Congress in Copenhagen, the following decisions were made:

1) 2012 was proclaimed the “Year of Tibor Sekel ", to the 100th anniversary of his birth. quote “Sekelj was not only a prominent Esperantist, but also an exceptionally successful writer who wrote more than 20 books. A third of his books were written in Esperanto and translated into many languages. He was a researcher, geographer, archaeologist, ethnographer, journalist, director, well-known Esperantist. He founded about ten national associations of associations mainly in Asia and South America. ”

2) The initiative of EU citizens to sing the European anthem in Esperanto was supported.
