On February 1, 1996, a resolution was issued by the head of the administration of Yoshkar-Ola "On the creation of a museum of the history of Yoshkar-Ola." Object of cultural heritage, Object № 1200453001 |
The museum is located in the main house of the Chulkov estate at 39 Voznesenskaya Street. The estate is a historical and cultural monument of regional significance. [4] The two-story red brick building, decorated with a patterne and metal carvings, was built in 1911 on a historic site: once there were fortifications of the Tsarev city on Kokshag, founded in 1584 . The decorative decoration of the building used elements, architectural details of the Art Nouveau style . In addition to the main house, the house includes a house with a mezzanine and an outbuilding . [5] [6]
In 1906, timber merchant Trofim Vasilievich Chulkov from the village of Savino bought a plot of land in Tsarevokokshaysk on Voznesenskaya Street and built two houses. In 1908 - a wooden house with a mezzanine, and in 1911 - two stone houses: two-story and one-story (outbuilding). Stone houses were built according to the project and under the guidance of the son of timber merchant Nikolai Chulkov. After construction, the house was occupied by the Treasury and the county land management commission. The second floor of a two-story house was occupied by the district police officer Joseph Adamovich Kamensky. [7]
In 1921, the Chulkov houses were nationalized, and at different times the district and regional food departments, Obik and Oblplan, the State Bank , and the savings bank were located in them. [8] [9]
In 1996, the building was reconstructed, and it housed a museum. [eight]
