Geography
The village is located within the Caspian lowland , east of the Volga-Akhtuba floodplain , near the left bank of the Bereket River [2] , at a height of 8 meters below sea level [3] . The terrain is flat, in the vicinity there are so-called Baer mounds . towering over the surrounding terrain [2] . Flooded meadow soils [4] .
The village is located within the boundaries of the sanitary protection zone of the Astrakhan gas complex . In connection with the negative impact on the environment of the complex, a decree of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR dated August 17, 1990 No. 309, the village of Khozhetayevka [5] of the Dzhanaisky Village Council was included in the list of settlements located in the 8-km sanitary protection zone of the Astrakhan gas complex, on the territory of which the coefficient for work in a desert and waterless area in the amount of 1.35 to the wages of workers and employees [6] .
By road, the distance to the regional center of Astrakhan is 62 km, to the regional center of the village of Krasny Yar - 21 km, to the administrative center of the rural settlement of the village of Janai - 6 km [7] .
The climate is sharply continental , extremely dry (according to the Köppen-Geiger climate classification - Bsk ). The average annual air temperature is positive and is about 10 ° C, the estimated multi-year rainfall is about 210 mm.

History
Founded in 1788 as a settlement of Karagash (Kundra Tatars), an ethnographic group of Nogais . Initially, the village was hibernating, as in the spring-summer period the Nogai continued to roam on the left bank of Akhtuba [9] .
According to the list of settlements in the Astrakhan province in 1859, there were 232 courtyards in the government village of Khozhetaevka, there were 12 mosques, a total of 3,452 male souls and 3,088 females lived [10] .
In 1918, the village became part of the Seitovskaya volost [11] .
During the period of collectivization in the village of Khozhetaevka, a fishing collective farm named after Narimanov was organized [12] . In 1954, it was merged with the "Dawn of the Commune" collective farm ( Dzhanay village) into the "Struggle for Peace" collective farm (center - the village of Khozhetaevka) [13] . In 1964, the latter became part of the collective farm "Precepts of Ilyich". The center of the integrated farm was the village of Janay [14] .
