Schirmer-Precher, Wilhelmina

Wilhelmina Schirmer-Pröscher ( German: Wilhelmine Schirmer-Pröscher , nee Pöser; July 9, 1889 , Giessen - March 2, 1992 , Berlin ) - German politician, member of the LDPG . Activist of the first phase of the construction of the German Democratic Republic .

Biography

In 1905-1907, Wilhelmina Pözer studied as a pharmacist, then until 1909 she attended teacher courses in Darmstadt and Eisleben , until 1912 she worked as a home teacher in Frankfurt am Main . She married in 1912 and lived with her husband and son in Bautzen . In 1919 she joined the German Democratic Party and participated in the campaign to elect Wilhelm Kühlz as a deputy of the Weimar Constituent Assembly . In 1919, for family reasons, left political activity and lived in the Mariendorf district of Berlin. After the death of her husband in 1931-1945, she managed a pharmacy.

At the end of the war she joined the cofounders of the Liberal Democratic Party of Germany and until 1989 she held leadership positions in the party. In 1990, she joined the Free Democratic Party of the GDR . In 1948-1959 she worked as a health adviser to the City Hall of East Berlin , then retired. In the years 1949-1990, Schirmer-Precher was a deputy of the People’s Chamber of the GDR , was part of the LDPG faction. In 1954-1963, she held the post of deputy chairman of the People’s Chamber. In 1948-1989, she was a member of the board of the Democratic Women's Union of Germany and was an honorary deputy. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Wilhelmine, Schirmer-Precher was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Berlin. The title was withdrawn on September 29, 1992 as a result of the merger of the lists of honorary citizens of East and West Berlin.
