Wilson Crater ( lat. Wilson ) - a large ancient impact crater in the southern circumpolar region of the visible side of the moon . The name is given in honor of the Scottish astronomer Alexander Wilson (1714-1786); Scottish physicist Charles Wilson (1869-1959); American astronomer Ralph Elmer Wilson (1886-1960) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1935. The formation of the crater refers to the preectarian period [1] .

Crater Description
The closest neighbors of Wilson Crater are the Bayi Crater in the west; Kircher Crater in the northwest; Klaprot crater in the east and Kazati crater in the southeast [3] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater , diameter 66.6 km [4] , depth 4430 m [5] .
Wilson Crater has a polygonal shape and is significantly destroyed. The shaft is smoothed, blocked by many craters of various sizes and has actually turned into an irregular elevation surrounding the crater bowl. The bottom of the bowl, flat, marked by many small craters, in the southeastern part of the bowl there is a noticeable bowl-shaped crater. A chain of craters lies to the west-southwest of the crater.
